Relax BItdefender is on board, October 30, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 - 3pcs/2years (CD-ROM) This is the 5th year that we have used Bitdefender's Security system and find it to be the best software on the market. Detailed in job it performs yet easy to use and understand. It can be customized or used right out of the box. BItdefender simply works in the background keeping files, web searches, etc. safe without requiring a lot of resources.

Resource Intensive But Cheap And Excellent Protection, September 19, 2012 This review is from: Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 - 3pcs/2years (CD-ROM) I've been using Bitdefender 2011 for the past year, switched to 2012 a while ago, then upgraded to 2013. I'm using it nearly exclusively for the antivirus protection so the antispam and other features are generally things I turn off; your mileage may vary as I've seen other reviews saying those can slow down web access. As I use it, I've liked it overall, but the Bitdefender is an extremely resource intensive program. If you're using a computer old enough to be running XP, you probably shouldn't be running it. With the older 2011 version, on my Windows 7 64-bit machine I had very few problems; on my Vista 32-bit machine occasional problems; on my wife's XP laptop the software was essentially unusable. I haven't used this one long enough to comment, though I can update the review later, but past versions have been a bit flaky and required repair installation from time to time.
They've really pared back the installation package options after 2011. There are far fewer clicks... Read more
Performance hog, and has interaction issues., December 12, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 - 3pcs/2years (CD-ROM) First a disclaimer: I'm using this to protect a 3-yr old Win 7 laptop (not a huge problem), and also an admittedly older Dell XPS desktop (Win XP) (unbelievably terrible performance impacts). I purchased this brand of security software in the hope that it would work better on my 7-year old desktop (1 G Ram) than the expiring Norton had. With Norton, my Dell functioned ok except during scans (which could be paused if necessary) and for 10 minutes when first starting up in the mornings.
Life with my Dell since installing Bitdefender has become unbearable. So bad, in fact, that I've ordered another brand of security software after only 2 weeks. Not only is my Dell brought to it's knees (totally freezes any other activity) for 10 to 15 minutes during startup in the mornings, but also for 5 or 10 minutes every hour or so for auto updates or miniscans or whatever is happening. And I've found no way to temporarily pause these things once underway. Performance is also nearly... Read more
